Well I wanted to wait another 3 weeks to harvest the potato grow bags but the plants in this bag “died” back yesterday. I thought they were just wilted from the heat so I watered them, but alas still dying today.
Harvesting Grow Bag Potatoes
I got a large storage container and flipped the bag over allowing all of the soil to fall out in the container. I saw exactly one potato and thought, oh well! But running my hands around the soil more potatoes were discovered! I felt like a kid in a candy store. So here they are fresh out of the bag and still dirty…my first potato grow bag harvest. The bigger ones are fist sized, which is pretty good considering the “parent” was only two inches long.
What to Do With Potatoes That You Harvest
I am going to leave the rest of the grow bags alone for 3 more weeks if I can keep my hands off them…lol. I used two potatoes for this grow bag, each cut in half, for a total of 4 plants. I hope the other bags with a little more time will give a better potato yield, but since I live in South Florida I’m just happy to have a few!!
