With all the news about Ebola, you hardly hear about the pandemic that’s on this side of the Atlantic right now: Chikungunya Virus.
Chickungunya is a mosquito-borne disease that causes fevers and joint pain. The joint inflammation sometimes last for weeks and months, and there are more than 700,000 cases in this Hemisphere. In the U.S., it’s still sporadic, with 40 or so cases in Florida and others from Texas to New York. Chikungunya isn’t fatal, but it can be a serious issue for those infected.
