VIDEO: The Survival Medic Mindset

We often take the miracles of modern medicine for granted. Medical professionals, from doctors to nurses to EMTs, are trained with modern equipment and the knowledge that there will always be a higher medical asset to which a patient can be sent. For a doctor, it’s a specialist or an intensive care unit; for a paramedic, it’s a modern medical facility.

It’s wonderful that these options exist, but a disaster that removes access to modern medicine will put even the most advanced medical professional in a tough spot. As a matter of fact, it could throw them back medically to the 19th century! The mindset of the medic has to be adjusted. Don’t forget that improvisations and alternative stategies may be all you have off the grid.
