Last year, 80,000 Americans died from the influenza virus. Early treatment with anti-viral meds like Tamiflu and Relenza is known to be the most effective way of decreasing the flu’s severity. Now, the FDA has approved a one-day therapy that represents the first advancement in close to 20 years for flu patients: Xofluza, aka Baloxavir. This drug has advantages and disadvantages, but represents another option in the treatment of a disease that yearly kills tens of thousands of our elderly and very young citizens. Dr. Joe Alton talks about it in the video below:
